They never did fly... But we tried... Every spring, I think the kids need to experience flying a kite... I remember Mom getting a hold of a kite in spring and flying it forever. I still like the idea but like so many of my moms talents, kite flying isn't one of mine. I even called her and asked how she did it. Of course, it was no big mystery to her. I think for starters, a person ought to buy a kite that isn't from the dollar store. It wasn't a total disappointment. The grass was green. There was a twirly kind of wind. The kites were pretty in the sunshine. Trying to fly a kite and failing isn't the worse thing. I watched my healthy, energetic kiddies out there enjoying their cheap thrill and it thrilled me. I am blessed.

If you want to know the meaning of this you'll have to look below for the explanation. Don't you just hate when a good plan goes awry? Waahhh!

Here is the something I found last week that I thought made sense about life. This children's book by Nancy Shaw called "Sheep in a jeep". I'm sure she didn't know it would inspire a person in the way it has me but oh well, here goes... First , think about a time that you were floating along in life and thought you were doing OK and suddenly you realized that you are messing things up big time. This story reminds me of me at such a time. It helped me see the humor in it... See what you think... Beep! Beep! Sheep in a jeep on hill that's steep. Uh-oh! The jeep won't go. Sheep leap to push the jeep. Sheep shove. Sheep grunt. Sheep don't think to look up front. {right here is a picture of a steep decline headed for a mud hole.} Jeep goes splash! Jeep goes thud! Jeep goes deep in gooey mud. Sheep tug. Sheep shrug. Sheep yelp. Sheep get help. {Here is what the help looks like; it's shown in the second picture above. Two great, fat pigs.} Jeep comes out....

Look what my children found at the thrift store yesterday... It was a day off school. I took them into town in the morning for thrift stores and library. I told them to pick out something they would enjoy. Laife claimed the football. Toria the water bottle. I ask myself why? Why would a seven almost eight year old girl pick out a used water bottle that says Well Fargo on it? It was too complex a question... I let it go... Shaunti wanted this original Holly Hobbie doll...that, I understood. I don't understand my children but I don't have to understand to love them. They get a kick out of the simple pleasures of life and for that I am grateful. As for myself, this is my simple pleasure. Bruce gave me full run of the greenhouse this year. I am so excited. It doesn't look like much but those two little beds are full of seeds and if all goes well I should have all my salad essentials in my own back yard. Exactly a year ago, We came home from Chile, South America. Our church gave us a huge grocery shower to help us get started again. The plan was for us to be gone two years at least so we had pretty well gotten rid of everything. I am sure some people even wondered what we were doing back home already but out of the goodness of their hearts they gave us a lot of groceries and a warm welcome home. The back of the Tahoe was full top to bottom. The cupboards and fridge were both full to the max. I've often thought of that kindness this past year. Our church family had the questions I'm sure but instead they gave love and support. I've been thinking of how easy it is to pick at peoples faults and miss the greatness that people show as well. And of course, you need to see pictures of the sand and sea... We did get to the beach one time as a family and also once more with Grandma and kiddies . While at the beach with Grandma we got to watch a couple daring people get pulled on this contraption through the air via boat in water. I don't ever have to do this to be happy. Great fun to watch from the ground. Also Grandma bought all the little ladies matching dresses. They got a little tired of all the photo shoots but these things are a must among moms and grandmas...
